What Do I Need to Haul for Explore?
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Explore pay owner-operators?
Explore Group offers an 85/15 split where drivers keep 85% of every load, paired with weekly pay and no holds. Owner-operators receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus alongside a $1,000 DOT bonus for passing a clean Level 1 inspection, plus provided fuel cards. Drivers operate late-model 2024 to 2026 trailers that include Maxxim and Puma hoppers and belly dumps while maintaining a balanced schedule of 3 weeks on and 1 week off for real time at home.
Is there steady frac sand work in the Permian right now?
We own the sand mine, run the trucks and manage the jobs on location. That means fewer middlemen between you and the load. Explore is ramping up new crews with major Permian operators this fall. As long as you're willing to go where the work is, we'll keep you moving.
Do Explore drivers offload at the well site?
No. Our wellsite crews run the offload. You hand over the ticket and head back to the mine. No packed staging pads, no climbing on equipment, no third-party excuses.
What are the weekly deductions for owner-operators?
We're an open book. Here's what comes out each week:
Trailer and insurance: $325 Escrow (until it reaches $2,500): $100 Maintenance fund (optional): $100 Ask about our free trailer promo.
Where are Explore's sand hauling jobs?
Most of our work runs out of Midland and Odessa. We also have jobs in Big Spring and in the Eunice and Jal area near our mine on the Texas–New Mexico line. In South Texas, our Kenedy terminal supports Eagle Ford work, with shop, office and lodging on site.
How fast can I start hauling?
Applying takes about 5 minutes online, followed by a callback within one business day. After completing a one-day orientation in Midland, you're ready to start hauling.
Can I start as a company driver and own a truck later?
Yes. We hire company drivers and offer a lease-to-own program for drivers who want to become owner-operators. Company seats fill fast, so apply now and ask Jon about the waitlist.
Does Explore work with third-party carriers?
Yes. If you run a small fleet, we partner with carriers across West Texas and New Mexico. For New Mexico work, trucks need apportioned plates. Contact our carrier team to get set up.
